2023 PGA TOUR Superstore Leadership Series

About the Series

The First Tee Leadership Series in partnership with PGA TOUR Superstore is an engaging and empowering five-week series designed to provide teens the opportunity to (1) build relationships with local PGATSS leadership, (2) uncover their leadership values and strengths, (3) identify potential careers based on those findings, and (4) develop goals on how to attain their desired career path.

Curriculum Overview

Session 1: Outside the Ropes (120 min)

  • Participants will discuss goal setting and then reflect on their 2, 4, and 6-year goals.
  • Explore career opportunities in sport/golf industry that do not include being a TOUR professional.
  • Teens will have an opportunity to meet 5-6 PGATSS employees and ask them about their career path.

Session 2: Navigating Ourselves, Our Future, and Finding Your True North (120 min)

  • The Understanding Our Values Activity includes evaluating 32 First Tee value cards and selecting the teen’s top 5 values. They will then work with a partner to list behaviors that are associated with their value and provide an example of how that value shows up in their life.
  • The Understanding Our Strengths Activity will provide time for the participants to review their StrengthsFinder report. We will ask them to think about what resonates, best reflects them, and with what they most identify.
  • Introduction of their session 3 assignment:
Participants will create a 5-minute presentation to deliver the following week. The topic is potential career choice(s) and how their values and strengths connect to this choice. The presentations can take any form of their choice, for example a painting, vision board, poem, song/rap, or speech.

Session 3: Participant Assignment (At home assignment)

  • Participants will work on their project during session 3 and will not meet as a group at the PGATSS location.

Session 4: Personal Brand (120 min)

  • Participants will present their assignment to their peers. After each presentation, the PGATSS GM and peers will provide Good-Better-How feedback.

Session 5: Virtual Town Hall – Wednesday, March 15 at 6:30pm EST (90 min; Subject to change)

  • The purpose of this session is for participants to learn from First Tee alumni who are further along on their journey of pursuing their goals. All participants in the leadership series will be required to attend. There will also be an opportunity for the teens to ask the alumni panel questions.
