About Us

We enable kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with life skills curriculum, we create learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids carry to everything they do.

First Tee – Orange County is more than a sports program for kids and teens – we are creating Game Changers.

Experiences are our greatest teacher. First Tee believes in developing the ones that are just as fun as they are meaningful, where kids feel excited to grow, safe to fail, and better equipped for whatever comes their way next.

In September 2013, we began providing educational programs to youth, ages 4 to 18, at The Islands Golf Center in Anaheim. To date, more than 2,000 youth, representing seventeen (17) cities and communities in Orange County have enrolled in our signature program – First Tee Program. Our Home Office is now located about Dad Miller Golf Course, but we also hold classes at Anaheim Hills Golf Course and The Islands Golf Center in Anaheim, Fullerton Golf Course and Coyote Hills Golf Course in Fullerton, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana, David L. Baker Golf Course in Fountain Valley, inside the PGA Tour Superstore in Irvine, San Juan Hills Golf Course in San Juan Capistrano, and Lake Forest Golf and Practice center in Lake Forest. In addition, more than 7,500 children have been served in our afterschool Community Program and School Programs throughout Orange County.

First Tee Program

Participants in the First Tee Program engage with trained, caring adult coaches and mentors, and interact with a curriculum that is both developmentally and age appropriate to meet participants where they are and address their ever-changing needs — including their emotional and social needs as they are surrounded by and working with peers their same age.

We are committed to providing programs that build character and instill life-enhancing values through the game of golf, and our curriculum has evolved to increase our impact, relevancy and scale. The curriculum is centered around First Tee’s Commitment to Being a Game Changer. The five Key Commitments are the life skills we want our participants to adopt and pursue – these are the keys to unlocking good character:

  • Pursuing Goals
  • Growing through Challenge
  • Collaborating with Others
  • Building a Positive Self-Identity
  • Using Good Judgment
