Coach Ian

“I’ve been playing golf for the past three years and regularly compete in junior tournaments. Over the last two years, I’ve also had the opportunity to serve as a junior coach, which has been a really rewarding experience. My favorite First Tee key commitment is Growing Through Challenges, because I’ve learned that challenges—whether on the golf course or in everyday life—help you become stronger and more resilient. For example, when I once got injured, I had to work hard and stay patient to get back to where I was before. That experience taught me that progress takes perseverance, both in sports and in life.”

Coach Danica

Awarded Volunteer Junior Coach of the Year 2025

“I have been in the first tee for about nine years and junior coaching for around five. The First Tee has offered me great opportunities such as the Ace and Teens on Greens program that I’ve been part of the past couple of years. My favorite key commitment is collaborating with others as being able to communicate and work together is important in any setting.”

Coach Hana

“I hit my very first golf shot ever with First Tee – Orange County when I was 10 years old and have since grown up with the program. The life skills I have learned at First Tee have been immensely useful in my journey navigating the world, and I love being able to teach them to younger players and inspire them to appreciate the game of golf as a junior coach volunteer. My favorite key commitment is collaborating with others because communicating well and showing respect for other people is very crucial in teamwork as well as in life.”

Coach Humza

“I have been a part of the First Tee program for 8 years, starting in the Player 3 class and eventually becoming a junior coach. Coaching has become one of my favorite parts of the program. I enjoy giving back to the younger players of the First Tee and teaching them the same skills and values I learned. My favorite core value is integrity because it reminds us to do the right thing even when no one is watching. Practicing integrity builds trust, strengthens character, and helps us stay true to our values both on the golf course and in life.”

Coach Maggie

“I have been a volunteer with First Tee for 2 years at Islands Golf Center and Coyote Hills Golf Course. I also have been taking lessons with First Tee for 5 years. One of my favorite key commitments is “Growing through Challenges”. This is my favorite because it is important to work through hard things and learn more from that experience.”

Coach Shrey

“I have been playing golf for 5 years and am currently a senior in high school, where I play on my high school’s golf team. I began junior coaching with First Tee in 2022 and joined the Junior Coach Council in 2024. My favorite First Tee core value is respect because it is a key quality that teaches you to value the people around you and the course you play on. I enjoy helping younger players build confidence and learn the game in a positive and supportive environment.”

Coach Sunnie

“I’ve been involved with First Tee for about 7 years now.  I enjoy helping out at annual fundraisers and special events like cooking at the Ronald McDonald House. My favorite key commitment is confidence because I believe that if you’re confident, you can do anything. I’m a new member of the Junior Coach Council, and I can’t wait to help make First Tee even more fun!”

Coach Lily

I’ve been involved with FTOC for almost 7 years now. Since the summer camps at Dad Miller, I then started junior coaching in 2021, starting from weekly classes to big events like annual fundraisers and much more. My favorite First Tee key commitment is building a positive self identity because positive thoughts lead to positive results.

Coach Adriana

“I’ve been with First Tee of Orange County for over a year now, and I truly enjoy working with the students and introducing them to the game of golf! Outside of First Tee, I’m on my high school’s Varsity girls team, and I play with family and friends around different OC courses. The First Tee Key Commitment, which I value, is Pursuing Goals, because I believe that you can’t be successful without having a vision and a drive. In golf, you should have a motivation for how you’re going to play or practice that day and why. In life, it’s having a strong motivation for going after what you want to achieve and accomplish. I’m looking forward to continuing my work with First Tee and playing as a participant!”

Coach Jenson

“I started FTOC classes at age four and have gained valuable life skills and lifelong friendships through the program. I also have served as a junior coach since I was ten and have accumulated 400+ service hours since. Besides golf, I am a cello player. My favorite key commitment is growing through challenges, as I have seen how I have been enriched and strengthened by choosing to power through various tough situations.”
