9-week age-based life skills classes and/or 3–5 day camps
The Foundation – Entry/Required
Every competitive journey begins here. Our core classes and camps teach fundamental golf skills alongside the life skills — honesty, integrity, and confidence — that define a First Tee participant. These sessions are the entry point for all juniors and the prerequisite for competitive play.
Post Session Golf Tournaments
First Competition – Beginner
After completing a class session, participants get their first taste of competitive play in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Post-session tournaments are designed to celebrate progress, build confidence on the course, and introduce junior golfers to the etiquette and format of real tournament play — all among familiar peers.
FTOC Summer PGA Jr. League
Team Format – Beginner/Intermediate
One of the most exciting formats in junior golf, PGA Jr. League puts participants on a team, playing a scramble-style format that emphasizes camaraderie and collaboration. Players wear jerseys, represent their chapter, and experience the fun of rooting for teammates — making this a highlight of the summer season for many juniors.
30s/40s Club
Skill Building – Intermediate/Qualifier Required
The 30s/40s Club is an exclusive, skill-based class reserved for participants who demonstrate they’re ready for the next level. At the start of each session, juniors have the opportunity to try out by completing a qualifying round — those who shoot in the 30s or 40s earn their spot in this prestigious group. It’s not just a class; it’s a goal to work toward and an achievement to be proud of. Once in, members train together at an accelerated pace, sharpening the skills, course management, and competitive mindset that define serious junior golfers.
FTOC Coaches League
Coached Competition – Advanced/Tryout Required
Advanced juniors who have taken at least 2 Session Classes within 12 Months of the Coaches League Tryout can have a chance to compete in our Coaches League, a more rigorous internal competition where FTOC coaches provide real-time mentorship and performance feedback. This program bridges recreational development and serious competitive golf, focusing on course management and mental toughness, all while remaining focused on our Key Commitments. At the end of the season, Coaches will compete with their players at the Coaches League Finals.
Regional golf tournaments with other SoCal First Tee chapters
Regional Play – Advanced Competitive/Tryout Required
Ready to compete beyond Orange County? Our top juniors travel to compete against players from other Southern California First Tee chapters in regional tournaments. These events build competitive experience, expand peer networks, and prepare participants for the next step on the national stage.
First Tee National Tournament — New Orleans, LA
National Opportunity – (Check Intranet for Requirements)
The pinnacle of competitive play through FTOC, the First Tee National Tournament brings together the best junior golfers from chapters across the country. Participants represent First Tee – Orange County on a national stage, competing for both trophies and unforgettable memories. Qualification is based on performance and coach recommendation
First Tee National Opportunities – PURE Insurance
National Opportunity – Application Required
For our most accomplished participants, First Tee’s national opportunities represent the ultimate stage. The crown jewel is the PURE Insurance Championship — an official PGA TOUR Champions event held at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links. Selected First Tee juniors are paired directly with golf legends, competing alongside them in the pro-junior format while gaining mentorship they’ll carry for a lifetime.
Throughout the week, participants network with peers, PGA TOUR Champions players, and business leaders competing in the amateur field — experiencing firsthand the doors that golf can open both on and off the course. The event is also covered on Golf Channel, giving participants a national platform unlike any other junior golf experience.
