First Tee – Orange County will be making some exciting changes to our Programming Structure beginning with the upcoming Winter 2022 Session
What will be different?
ALL CLASSES WILL BE AGE-BASED
Ages 4 – 6 = Target
Ages 7-9 = Player
**(No player 3,6,9)**
Ages 10 – 11 = Par
Ages 12 – 13 = Birdie
Ages 14 & Up = Eagle
Why the Change?
We realize that kids don’t learn the same way they did 20 years ago so First Tee needs to evolve with the changing environment.
- Increase access to our program through age group registration
- Modernize by utilizing digital platforms outside of class
- Enhance our curriculum by adding new age-appropriate materials
- Some chapters are already experimenting with age-based programming with positive results
- Participants will still earn hours and rewards to provide incentive opportunities within each class level.
- KIDS HAVE MORE FUN WITH PEERS OF THEIR OWN AGE
What does this mean for me?
New Participants will simply register for a class that fits his/her age range.
Returning Participants– Your progress in the program will NOT be negatively impacted; in fact, it may be accelerated.
- If your current class level is LOWER than what you would now qualify for (ex. a 10 year old in a player level class), you may join your age appropriate class level (par) moving forward.
- If your current class level is HIGHER than what you would now qualify for (ex. a 10 year old in a birdie class) then that player may remain in the Birdie class moving forward despite not being in the new age range (ages 12-13).
